My journey in coaching began in childhood, organizing neighborhood competitions that sparked my lifelong passion for teaching physical movement skills and methods for improving performance. In high school, I competed in cross country, swimming, and volleyball, and then continued my athletic career at East Stroudsburg University, competing for their NCAA Division 1 volleyball team. Through these experiences I learned the pivotal role of coaching in achieving success. After graduation in May 2001, with a BS in Health and Physical Education concentrating in Exercise Physiology, I embarked on a diverse career, including coaching collegiate volleyball and a successful 15-year stint in professional beach and grass doubles volleyball.
As I transitioned through various roles in health and fitness and in the medical field, I gained insights into the broader applications of coaching. In 2003, I started as a Wellness Director for a physical and occupational therapy company, where I learned the importance of coaching the basics of movement as patients rehabilitated from surgeries and from acute and/or chronic pain. In 2005, I moved into a role as a clinical exercise physiologist, deepening my understanding of movement, exercise performance, and cardiac rehabilitation. From 2010 to 2012 I worked in corporate fitness, where I developed a love for group training and impacting large numbers of clients simultaneously.
From 2012 to 2023, I served as the Fitness Director for a large commercial fitness facility where I managed over 20 very successful trainers and trained hundreds of clients, emphasizing personalized coaching approaches.
In all of these roles, I witnessed the value of good coaching in achieving success - whether that success be achieving greater health, improving body composition, and/or improving physical performance. And now operating my own personal training and nutrition coaching business, The Finest Hour Health & Fitness, I am offering my extensive coaching experience to empower our clients to move better, feel better, and live healthier lives through movement.
